Day 01

Day 1: Cusco – Checacupe – Palccoyo Mountain – Cusco

The tour begins at 5:00 a.m. with pickup at the Plaza de Armas in Cusco in a private tourist vehicle. The first leg, roughly 2 hours and 30 minutes, crosses Andean valleys, rivers, and mountains until reaching Checacupe, in the province of Canchis.

In Checacupe, we'll visit the town's three historic bridges — the Inca Bridge, the Colonial Bridge, and the Republican Bridge. After this stop, we'll continue for another 1 hour and 30 minutes until reaching the Rainbow Mountain Range of Palccoyo, at 4,900 m (16,076 ft).

From here, we'll begin the walk toward the mountain, a gentle round-trip route of approximately 40 to 45 minutes, taking in eroded glacial formations, multicolored strata, the striking stone forest (Ccacca Loma), the Red Mountain, and views of Nevado Ausangate. Another highlight is the Four Lagoons circuit: Acopia, Pomacanchis, Posposqo Cocha, and Misky Cocha.

After the visit, we'll head back to the vehicle and continue to Cusipata for a buffet lunch with regional dishes. The tour ends back in Cusco, at Plaza Regocijo, around 5:00 p.m.
